Fila was proudly involved in redevelopment of the famous Torre Arcobaleno, located close to the renowned Porta Garibalidi train station in Milan. The tower, originally a water tower, dates back to the sixties. For the 1990 World Cup in Italy, it was renovated and revamped, turning it from a deteriorated facility into a city landmark. Fila provided its products and competence, giving a clean, protected Tower façade back to the city of Milan. The Torre Arcobaleno is completely covered in over 100,000 tiles in 10x10 modules, in 14 different colors. It was thoroughly cleaned with PH ZERO Strong Acid Cleaner and Descaler to remove rust and smog from the glazed ceramic tile, while graffiti on the lower part was eliminated with NOPAINT STAR Sealer Stripper and Stain Remover. To finish, it was protected against dirt with STOP DIRT Dirt Barrier for Matte and Textured Porcelain, which forms an invisible barrier on the surface, preventing the accumulation of dirt for easier, quicker cleaning. This redevelopment project, the cost of which was completely covered by the team of participating companies and architects, was a gift to Milan and the millions of visitors to the city for Expo 2015.
