Torre Garibaldi B, one of the two 98-metre tall towers at Porta Nuova Garibaldi in Milan, covered in glass and stone (Portuguese limestone) were restored and given protective treatment in 2011. This was a spectacular example of acrobatic intervention requiring specialist operators who abseiled down from the top of the tower. The surface was first washed with a high pressure water jet cleaner and left to dry completely, then W68 was applied using the “airless” method. The building is today totally protected from the weather and able to resist aggression from rainfall up to a speed of 140 km an hour, guaranteeing that the cladding retains its maximum splendour at length.
