Encaustic Cement Tiles (Decorated Concrete)
Decorated concrete (also called "encaustic cement tiles") is a blend of various finely ground minerals and a hydraulic binder. Encaustic tiles were typically used for floors in the past (early last century) but have recently seen a revival and are today being used in modern architecture. This kind of material is highly absorbent and therefore requires specific stain protection treatment and a suitable wax finish.
