A parallelepiped firmly anchored to the ground yet rising up to embrace the future. Designed by the Boris Micka Associates and elected as Best Pavilion of the Dubai 2020 Expo, the Saudi pavilion stands apart for a mixture of thoughtful architecture and state-of-the-art digital technology, conveying, through its spectacularly sleek shape, the desires and aspirations of a Nation driven by a bold ambition to better our future while striving to grow and open up to the world.
The narrative was sustained inside the structure with immersive projections taking visitors on a journey through time and the local culture.
FILA was proud to be part of this project through its FILA Middle East branch charged with cleaning and caring for both the external area and the concourse at the entrance. Operations were carried out in partnership with the Stone Company Sital Marble. Prone to heavy foot traffic, the areas concerned were made from granite and FILA's solutions kept them looking impeccable despite the punishment they came in for - over three million visitors traipsing back and forth.
In particular, the external area was treated with our Deterdek Pro detergent which cleans thoroughly and effectively removes all manner of stains. This product penetrates deep down below the surface, eliminating dirt without causing damage. With a buffered-acid formula which does not emit noxious fumes, it has a gentle action on an array of different materials, respecting people and the environment as well.
A high-viscosity CR10 liquid detergent made from biodegradable ingredients was used to get rid of some epoxy residue in the external welcome area. Extremely easy to use, this helped to shift even the toughest residue without spoiling the surface.
The surfaces were subsequently treated with MP90 Eco Xtreme, a protective water-and-oil repellent with a natural effect which preserves materials from stains without altering the aesthetic appearance. A water-based product which waterproofs and protects, simplifying the cleaning process and contributing towards LEED credits. Indeed, it has extremely low VOC emissions and is totally free of hydrocarbon solvents.
Therefore, these are effective and environmentally-friendly solutions that chime perfectly with the original architectural intent: this building is one of the most sustainable structures in the world and has been honoured with Platinum LEED certification, the greatest sustainability award on an international level.
FILA’s participation in the project is part of the Company's innovative and sustainable growth process which focuses on research and favours the usage of products of natural origin obtained from renewable raw materials.
