Encaustic Cement Tile (Decorated Concrete Tile)
Decorated concrete tile, also called "encaustic cement tile," is a blend of various finely ground minerals and a hydraulic binder, which harden when water is added to the mixture.
Early in the last century, encaustic tiles were typically used on floors, but they have recently made a comeback and are now used in contemporary architecture. Encaustic tile is highly absorbent and requires specific stain protection and a suitable wax finish.
