The All England Club is a London venue best known for hosting the Wimbledon Championships. Impressively, this private member’s club has held this prestigious event ever since 1877. One of the four major Grand Slam tournaments in tennis, Wimbledon is the only one that is still played in traditional grass courts. The event also takes place over a span of two weeks, beginning in late June and is a festival full of British traditions.
With a rich heritage spanning 144 years, this annual celebration of sport has brought us many weird and wonderful things. For instance, did you know approximately 166,000 portions of strawberries and cream are consumed each year or that 54,250 tennis balls are used during the Championships period? It’s also no secret that the British royal family love Wimbledon and the royal box is home to some of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s most fun photo-ops. From the white dress code to the Pimms, what’s not to love about tennis? Here’s how FILA assisted the Millenium Building with the cleaning of new wood-effect porcelain tiles.
At FILA, our brief was to advise on the best products to use by S2C Midlands, who are specialist tile and stone cleaners and authorised UK FILA Surface Care Solutions dealers. Remember; it is always important to enlist the services of a professional floor cleaner as using the wrong products and methods can potentially damage a floor. The porcelain tiles themselves were supplied by Surrey-based Domus Tiles and featured an authentic wood-effect grain to achieve a truly natural finish. Our team provided on-site support and advice on the best FILA products to use to clean and remove the post-installation tile residues.
FILA’s CR10 and PS87 PRO were used to ensure optimum performance and painless maintenance of the floors long-term. It was, therefore, a pleasure to watch the games this year, knowing the input we had - an enjoyable project for sure.
