Villa Solitaire is one of the world’s most luxurious residences. It is surrounded by a lush botanical garden and rests on the hills of Son Vida, Mallorca's most exclusive residential area.
Villa Solitaire was designed by architect Matteo Thun and occupies 2,380 sq.m developed over four floors. It includes seven bedrooms, six master bathrooms, a swimming pool and a spa, lounges, an outdoor cinema and a terrace of over 2,000 sq.m. All these elements have a common feature: Paloma stone, a pure white and extremely resistant limestone extracted from La Pedrera quarry in Seville.
Thanks to its technical expertise and high-quality systems for protecting and caring for surfaces, FILA ESPAÑA was selected to work in partnership with Netpalma – a renowned cleaning and treatment services company based in Palma de Mallorca – to protect the natural white of the villa’s interior and exterior surfaces.
FILA’s professional treatment was used for the indoor floors and all outdoor surfaces, including waterways, swimming pools and garden tanks. All six sides of the external slabs were treated to ensure total material protection and prevent deterioration, given the proximity to the sea and the presence of high salinity.
Given the type of intervention, FILA ESPAÑA’s team of experts – in collaboration with Netpalma treatment specialists – used the best surface treatment and protection systems for both indoor and outdoor surfaces. For example, they applied HYDROREP followed by FOB XTREME to the 2,380 sq.m limestone.
HYDROREP is a water-repellent and solvent-based product that protects outdoor and indoor floors and joints from water, humidity, and weather agents. It provides breathable, long-lasting, and renewable protection, preventing efflorescence without affecting the material’s natural look. Moreover, it ensures high performance due to its high penetration capacity; it does not turn yellow and prevents harmful and unsightly mould.
Villa Solitaire’s surfaces were also treated against stains using FOB XTREME, a breathable water- and oil-repellent protective product for matt surfaces based on the innovative Advanced Solvent Borne Technology. It can be used both indoors and outdoors as it does not alter the stone’s original colour (pure white) and does not form a surface film.
FILA ESPAÑA was established 25 years ago and has been operating across Spain since then. For this project, it treated the surfaces at a large and prestigious construction site. Besides treating the Paloma stone slabs before and after their installation, FILA provided a practical manual that describes all the products used for the routine and special maintenance of Villa Solitaire’s surfaces. FILA provides a high-level consulting service to ensure maximum protection and maintain the surface’s original beauty and value over time.
