Lot 16 at Marina di Ragusa, by architects Nunzio Gabriele Sciveres and Giuseppe Guerrieri, is part of the Residenze Garden complex, a large designer social housing project sustainably constructed by a building cooperative in partnership with the local authorities. It stands out for a distinctively stylish design focused on energy saving, the use of local materials to create a suitably Mediterranean atmosphere and a finely judged relationship between internal and external spaces.
White, cobalt blue and Siena yellow glazed lava stone tiles were made to order for the entire interior flooring, laid in an Italian herringbone pattern to form a particular geometric rhythm. To protect and enhance this special craquelé ceramic surface the architects specified a double application of MP90, a special anti-stain protector for solvent-based polished surfaces. As well as providing protection and making cleaning easier, MP90 does not alter the natural colour of surfaces.
