Also known as ‘The Diamond Tower’, Newfoundland is an iconic new landmark in Canary Wharf, London. Spanning 58 storey’s with over 600 private apartments, it’s shaping up to be one of the capital’s most desirable places to live. The build itself comprises of a slim diamond-shaped tower, hence the nickname, which was determined by the narrow footprint of the site. It also offers some of the very best views of the London skyline and is located a few minutes walk from the Canary Wharf London Underground.
Standing at a proud 220 metres (729 ft.), Newfoundland features 36,300 sq ft of external and 16,000 sq ft of internal amenity space. This includes a private health club and spa, fully equipped gym, self-service bar and private dining room. Additionally, the apartments will span 11ft in height, allowing for higher floor-to-ceiling heights than those at other planned residential towers in the surrounding area. The build also offers the very best in innovative architecture and elegant design with a splendidly delicate aesthetic rarely found in such tall towers.
FILA was instructed to assist this thriving new landmark with the porcelain tiles, which have an anti-slip finish. It was very important the tiles were cleaned correctly and that the products did not affect the slip rating of tiles and so for the initial clean, we chose DETERDEK PRO. Surprisingly, 99% of complaints with porcelain tiles stem from using the wrong type of cleaning products. Using this detergent for the end-of-installation clean will ensure the surface fully performs. With 2500 sq m in total of porcelain tiles, the project also required PS87 PRO for organic and polymer removal. We also provided onsite training and support for this marvellous new build and our client Canary Wharf Group.
