MARBLE AID XT PLANT BASED: STRAIGHT FROM NATURE, MAXIMUM ACID PROTECTION
25/09/2019
MARMOMAC ha served as a launching path for the new Marble Aid XT Plant Based, FILA’s acid protector for marble and natural stone that throughout the past year has undergone in-depth analysis and improvement of its product formula and technical performance.
Following the concept of water- based, plant-based is the last frontier of leading-edge polymers, high-performing and partially derived from plants: Marble Aid XT Plant Based, in fact, contains DECOVERY®, a polymer derived from plant-based content such as seeds, tree bark and castor beans. It delivers a potential 34% carbon footprint reduction compared to conventional alternatives, as well as containing low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
FILA’s choice to embrace the DECOVERY® technology arises from a collaboration with DSM, a global science-based company active in health, nutrition and sustainable living. DSM addresses with its products and solutions some of the world’s biggest challenges while simultaneously creating economic, environmental and societal value. FILA’s Research Center and Decovery® have a common vision which has joined them in a collaboration to replace fossil fuel-based materials with plant-based materials, and to lead the coating-based industry to the next generation of materials.
The advent of Marble Aid XT Plant Based materializes the dreams of FILA President Beniamino Pettenon, whom since the 1970s has been building the vision of eco-compatible products and company processes.
The acid protection is strengthened in its adhesion and self-leveling characteristics, fully respecting the environment and the people who come in contact with the product: in addition to being eco-compatible, the protection can be repeatedly removed and reapplied, proving effective when in contact with limescale cleaners, soap and toothpaste. It is also non-yellowing, ideal for outdoor surfaces, protecting marble and natural stone from deterioration due to acid rain.
